![]() Liberty Bridge between Mestre and Venice Liberty Bridge The Liberty Bridge connects the historical center of Venice with the the mainland. The bridge is 5 km long and is used by cars, buses and trains. The terminus is Piazzale Roma: here are parking places, the bus station and the Santa Lucia Train Station. The historical center of Venice is on an island in the Venetian Lagoon. The old center is made up of six districts (sestiere): Cannaregio, Dorsoduro, Castello, Santa Croce, San Polo and San Marco. The Venice municipality also includes the mainland areas of Mestre and Porto Marghera. Riding over the Liberty Bridge, you will see the (oil) industry factories on the other side. Many Venetians who lived originally in the historical centre are now living on the mainland. |
