The full name of the accommodation is ‘Best Western Hotel Cavalletto and Doge Orseolo of Venice‘. Cavaletto Hotel is 50 meter behind St Mark’s Square and overlooking the Orseolo Basin. St. Mark’s Square is the heart of Venice with it’s Basilica, Campanile Tower and Doge’s Palace. The area around the hotel is full with culture & history, luxury boutiques and restaurants.

The 4-star Cavalletto Hotel has 107 single-, double- and triple rooms. A double room excluding breakfast starts from €110. Single rooms starts at €85. The restaurant offers Venetian cuisine specialties. Other hotel facilities are tour reservations, train station transfers, night porter, a-la-cart snackbar and several terraces. The famous Hard Rock Cafe (american food) is next to the hotel. Guests can board one of the Gondolas.

Reviews on the internet for Cavalletto Hotel are good (7.9). Strongest point is the great location in the centre of Venice just behind St. Mark’s Square. Many attractions are nearby and easy to reach. The public water bus stops at a 2-minute walk from the hotel.

Transportation to the hotel
The historic centre of Venice is car-free so taxi’s and busses can’t drive to the hotel. Most convenient is is to take a private water taxi from Marco Polo Airport to the hotel (€100-€120). Much cheaper is the public water taxi from the company Alilaguna at Marco Polo Airport. Alilaguna’s Blue Line goes to San Marco/Giardinetti. The trip takes 60 minutes and cost €15p.p.
Airport busses (€3-€5) and land taxi’s (€35) stop at Piazzale Roma. From here one have to take water bus line 1 (or line 2) to stop ‘San Marco/Vallaresso’. Passengers who arrive at Santa Lucia train station can take the same water bus (line 1/2) to St.Mark’s Square.

St. Mark’s Square is served by several water bus lines. The lines 1, 2 and N (Night boat) have a stop at ‘San Marco/Vallaresso’. From here it’s a few minutes walking to the hotel. The public water bus operates from the early morning till midnight. The night water bus operates on average every hour. Line 2 and line N have a stop at Tronchetto (car parking garages) and the cruise port San Basilio.
